Hey Guys and Gals of SE3...

If you are reading this, and you don't like what I've written about you, let me know!

I would be only too happy to change it, add more, add a photo, or not mention you at all!

I'll put in a comment feature soon, if possible. That way you can leave instant feedback, instead of having to wait to meet me in class!

What is Science Education?

The B.Sc. in Science Education is an Bachelor Honour Degree run in Dublin City University.

Over four years, the course is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to be "highly skilled and motivated" secondary school teachers in two of the subjects maths, chemistry and physics.

We are currently in our third year of the course, and I think it would be fair to say we are pretty excited at the prospect of spending semester two this year on teaching practice!

It has been a bit of a hard slog getting this far.

Perhaps, at some stage, I might put up some links and documents that may make it easier for future students. If you're nice...

About My Classmates

Unfortunately, we don't have a class photo. That is something we should really get sorted.

But, we can make do.

Having started with 24 in the class, after two full years of college, and the intervening exams, we are now at 14. Only twelve of that fourteen are from the original class, and there are two others who have joined us after repeating a year.

So, there's me: Colm. You already saw the photo of me on the front page of this site. I'm the eldest in the group, at a decreipt 26.

Also in the photo is Amy, from Monaghan. You can't go anywhere without meeting someone from Monaghan.

In no particular order, the rest of the class are as follows, with a fascinating anecdote about each of them.

Gemma is from Artane, and has red hair. Actual red, not ginger.

Siobhan is from Coolock, and has red hair. As in ginger.

Susan is the youngest in the class, and is from Finglas. Although, it's practically Ballymun, and I think they prefer to call it Glasnevin.

Bim is from Santry, and speaks with a proper English accent.

Ged is the other token southsider, from Clondalkin. He is big into his singing. And rugby.

Brian is from Athboy. He did his second year TP in a girls school, and they all had a crush on him.

Jenni is from Dundalk. Or Drogheda. I can never for the life of me tell the two apart. Sorry Jenni! She is also our class rep.

It turns out she is from Dundalk. And most definitely not Drogheda. Apparently that is a bad mistake to make!

Emma is from Celbridge. She is mad about horses. And does a charity bungee jump every year.

Nikki is from Letterkenny. She is the athlete of the class, her sport is walking. The kind where you have to wiggle your bum!

And Aileen is also from Letterkenny. She is the goth/emo type person in the class.

Also joining us this year are Ross and Sinead. I can't give an anecdote of any sort for them, being only two days into the year, but I'm sure I'll give you an update shortly.

The ones we left behind...

As in every college course, there are people that just don't make it past exams. Minto and Shorty are both repeating the Inorganic module and the dreaded Optics module.

Lisa, on the other hand, decided to stay in second year and do the optional modules we didn't have the choice of doing! Now, that is dedication!

Miss you guys!
