I was born in Northern Ireland and at the age of seven I moved to England. For three years I lived there in a town called Morpeth -not too far away from Newcastle- before moving back to Ireland. Instead of returning to the North, my family and I moved to Sligo where my Nanny is from. For the past seven and a half/eight years I’ve been living there. It was quite tough moving around a lot when I was younger, but I’m used to it now and can’t ever really see myself staying in one place forever! Oh yeah and I have one dog, two cats and seven doves.
This could take a while to type, so I’ll make a list and briefly explain… I love travelling and seeing new places. Different cultures – particularly Native American culture. Old black and white films (any film with Bette Davis!) Poetry – I’m not a big fan of it but I love William Blake. Art – contemporary, French, pop etc. Comedy –The Marx Brothers, Monty Python, Little Britain etc. MUSIC! Which goes without saying, whether it’s listening to it, reading about it or playing it, it’s an important factor in my life. My favourite music artist is Patti Smith, I've seen her perform twice and she's such a powerful performer. Also books are important to me and one thing I dislike about college is not having enough time to read for enjoyment!
Reading, of course. Over the summer I really got into Daphne du Maurier, the writer from Cornwall. My favourite book of hers would have to be Jamaica Inn, there’s so much suspense in a lot of her novels but this one is a real page-turner! I’ve been playing the piano for the past ten years now, and completed my grades last year. I’m hoping to get my diploma and perhaps teach just to keep my career options open. I came across the Italian composer, Ludovico Einaudi this year. His music is featured in a lot of films including Shane Meadows’ This is England. I also picked up guitar a few years ago but I just don't have the patience with it as I have with piano!
