Title: Actor Jason Segel

Freaks and Geeks (6) was my favourite TV show growing up and still is today. It appealed to me when I was young because I bonded so much with the characters and the story being told. I used to watch re-runs of the episodes when they showed on TV and when I finally got the box set- that got a fair good amount of viewing too. I was absolutely crushed that the show itself only lasted one season. It shared the fate of many of the great TV shows that I like to call “The one season curse.” The show itself is centred around Lindsay and Sam Weir both attending McKinley High School during the early 1980s. The show opens to reveal Lindsay, tired with her life as an academic “mathlete” and beginning to spend her time with troubled “Freaks” who are known to drink alcohol and skip class. The story tells the honest story of her transition into this new lifestyle and the friction this causes between both her own loyalties and her parents reaction to the change. The other layer of the show focuses around Sam Weir, Lindsay’s brother. He fits into the “Geeks” part of this show. His story deals with the trials and tribulations of fitting in, falling in love and finding a place in highschool along with his two best friends and fellow geeks- Neal and Bill.

The characters in the show were all pretty young when the show was being made. That’s why it’s been a great pleasure for me to watch them grow and flourish. Though it may sound crazy, I feel a special bond to each one of them because of this. The entire cast was bursting with talent, talent that is very evident today. I am going to take you on a journey through the career of my favourite cast member’s achievements and find out just what he is up to now and where he has have left his mark along the way.
