Nick Andopolis
Jason Segel played Nick Andopolis in the show Freaks and Geeks.
His character was a ‘Freak’ who falls madly in love with the main character Lindsay. She does not feel the same and ultimately breaks his heart but his character is all the more rich from the experience. Nick’s father is extremely strict and does not approve of Nick’s dream to become a professional drummer. I am a huge fan of all the ‘Freaks’ that appeared in the show and I am always glad to see them do other projects together. This happens so often that it is difficult to choose a favourite. However, I chose Jason as the ‘Freak to watch’ because he has kept me well entertained over the past few years.
After Freaks and Geeks, a new show ‘Undeclared’ (7) began production in 2001 (1). Judd Apatow, the creator of Freaks and Geeks tried to get the whole cast involved in this new show but only Seth Rogen and Jason Segel became recurring characters. Some of the other cast members appeared as guest stars. The show ‘Undeclared’ is focused on Steven Karp and his experience of attending college for the first time. He becomes good friends with his flatmates, falls in love with the girl across the hall and is constantly being annoyed by his divorced father popping by his apartment for company. Jason Segel plays the girl across the hall’s neurotic boyfriend. The show had a lot of famous guest stars including Will Ferell, Ben Stiller, Amy Poehler and even Adam Sandler. It was very entertaining and bittersweet but it too was cancelled after just one season.
