Blood transfusion
Introduction
The aim of this essay is to give the reader a better understanding of the general topic that is Blood Transfusion. Blood transfusion is a very important topic as statistics show that there will be 70,000 people if not more who will require a blood transfusion this year alone in Ireland. The approach that I took was to examine the different ways that blood can be transfused, which alone is a very complex subject so I have laid out the information in a concise and informative matter. I felt it necessary to give a brief history of blood transfusion itself so that the progressions which we have made in the last 20 years could be highlighted. Most importantly I felt that given its relevance to Ireland today it was important to talk about the diseases which can and have been transmitted from blood donors to a recipients. Blood is a very diverse subject that I found very interesting to research.
